Fantastic Pulp is glad to accept any work in the following categories: Articles, Fiction, Art and Audio. Our first priority in choosing submissions will go to our Members (sign up here), however unsolicited work can be sent via e-mail to editor@fantasticpulp.com.

What We Need From You:

  • All Types:
    • A title for the work.
    • A list of tags, separated by commas. This is optional, but encouraged. We reserve the right to make editorial changes to any tags, but we want to know what you consider important about the work.

  • Fiction:
  • We accept several kinds of fiction. The broad categories (with word counts) are:

    • Flash Fiction (100-1000)
    • Very Short Story (1001-5000)
    • Short Story (5001-8000)
    • Serial (Any of the above)

  • Articles:
    • 300-500 words. You have a much better shot at being published if you're on-topic, or can at least make a successful segue to or from something on-topic.
    • You also have the option to provide a sidebar in addition to the main article.

  • Art:
    • For the time being, we're only accepting static art. Preferred formats are .PNG and .JPG.
    • A description is preferred. If none is provided, we reserve the right to write one.
    • If you're and artist, and are interested in illustrating a comic strip, e-mail editor@fantasticpulp.com.

  • Audio:
    • Preferred format: MP3 192k.
    • A description is preferred. If none is provided, we reserve the right to write one.
    • If you'd be interested in doing voice work for one of our audio dramas, e-mail casting@fantasticpulp.com.

What You Will Get From Us:

Pay rates will be determined by a points system. Each person who contributes to the site during a given month will get a number of points based on what sort of work they've submitted. At the end of the month, all the points are added together and percentages are calculated, which is used to divide the profits.

Beta Note: We will be running on fumes for a bit. Realistically, there's probably a couple months minimum before any of us see a penny. But if you stick with us, we'll make sure everyone gets what's fair. Also, things are set up so that if you're not getting paid, we're not getting paid either. And we're not all that crazy about that.

However, we can also offer...

Promotion. In addition, the site will act as a promotion engine. It increases the chances that someone, somewhere will see and enjoy your work. Registered contributors also receive free advertising in the form of 150x500 pixel banners. E-mail advertising@fantasticpulp.com for more information.

Point Payment System (PPS)

Each bit of content you have published during a month will get you a certain number of points, as determined by the following table:

Article 1 Point
Flash Fiction 1 Point
Very Short Fiction 2 Points
Short Fiction 3 Points
Serial Fiction Points based on length +1
Art 2 Points
Audio 3 Points
Moderator 2 Points
Admin 3 Points

Rights:

All rights to work remains in the creator's hands. Intellectual property rights are a complicated issue. We'll have some rough guides set up soon, but in the meantime there are several easy options available in the Creative Commons.

Fantastic Pulp does reserve non-exclusive web publishing rights for any material submitted to the site. In the event that we wish to use your work in another format (i.e. magazine, annual, etc.), we will negotiate new terms at that time.
